DIY mason jar decor
So the other day I was on Pinterest (love it so much!) and found this super cute way to decorate mason jars. The blog this is based off of is linked at the bottom :)
The three jars I used were a cleaned spaghetti sauce jar, cleaned jelly jar, and cleaned curry sauce jar. If you don't have any food in jars, you can always buy some jars all by themselves. I know they have some at World Market.
Supplies:
- modge podge
- paint brush
- jar(s)
- scrapbook paper or wrapping paper
- scissors
- newspaper
Directions:
1. First, lay out the newspaper to protect the surface you're working on. Then, trace the lid of the jar onto the back of the scrapbook/wrapping paper.
2. I've already done this in the picture above, but next cut out around the traced circle by about 1 inch.
3. Then, grab your scissors and cut little slits ending at the trace lid outline. The slits should be about 1/4-1/2 inch wide.
4. Use the paint brush to brush modge podge onto the top of the lid and put the lid on the middle of the paper. Flip the lid over and press down on the paper.
4. This is probably the most tedious part of this project. You're going to flip the lid back over and brush modge podge onto the side of the lid, but just for a certain section at a time.
5. Then you're going to take one of the slits and fold it over and brush modge podge on top of it. Repeat steps 4 & 5 until all of the slits are folded over and the lid looks like this.
6. Flip the lid back over and coat it all with a thin layer of modge podge.
